Who God Is

The Heavens, revolving under
His government, are subject to Him in peace. Day and night
run the course appointed by Him, in no way hindering each
other. The sun and moon, with the companies of the stars,
roll on in harmony according to His command, within their
prescribed limits, and without any deviation. |

Clement I, Letter to the Corinthians, c. 95. |

In the Divine Trinity, nothing
is unlike or unequal, and all that can be thought concerning
Its substance admits of no diversity either in power or
glory or eternity. |

- St. Leo the
Great, Sermon 77, c. 461 |
|
I adore You as my first beginning. I aspire after
You as my last end. I give You thanks as my constant
benefactor. I call upon You as my sovereign
protector.

- Clement XI, A Universal Prayer,
c. 1710 |

Take away God, all respect for civil laws, all
regard for even the most necessary institutions
disappears; justice is scouted; the very liberty
that belongs to the law of nature is trodden
underfoot; and men go so far as to destroy the very
structure of the family, which is the first and
firmest foundation of the social structure.
